When I was about 8 years old, my mother gave me a little necklace, that had the mustard seed in the middle of it. I still remember holding it in my hand, in front of the big mirrored dresser that she had in her room.
She was giving me this gift for me accepting JESUS as my Personal Savior. The following Sunday morning I was baptised...it was that Sunday, that I received the necklace. As she fastened the clasp around my neck, and kissed me on my forehead, she shared the story of the mustard seed.
The Bible only mentiones this little seed 5 times in the New Testiment...
Matthew 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mark 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
